Abstract

The article reviews the 2024 World Costume in Action (WCiA) Symposium and Exhibition held in Bucharest, Romania, organized by the OISTAT Costume Design Sub-commission. This biennial event featured international panels, talks, and an exhibition focused on costume design, highlighting themes such as creative processes, textile manipulation, the integration of technology, sustainability, and pedagogy. Presentations showcased innovative approaches blending traditional and digital techniques, while discussions emphasized the importance of equity, inclusion, and challenging gendered stereotypes within the costume design profession. Despite organizational challenges limiting local Romanian participation, the event fostered global knowledge exchange and underscored the need for future hosts to enhance collaboration and planning.
