Abstract
The article focuses on the reflections of Tareq Ismael, an influential Iraqi intellectual, on the changing political landscape of Iraq from the 1950s to the present. It highlights the initial optimism of Iraq's educated generation following the establishment of the state and the 14 July Revolution of 1958, contrasting it with the current feelings of pessimism among the youth due to ongoing challenges such as sectarianism and corruption. Ismael's contributions to academia and his advocacy for Iraqi refugees are noted, along with his critical writings on the decline of the Iraqi Communist Party and the broader political situation in Iraq post-2003. The article concludes with a tribute to Ismael's legacy as a dedicated Iraqi patriot. [Extracted from the article]
