Abstract
The article focuses on Alabama's fiscal year 2025 budget, highlighting its historic investment in education through the Education Trust Fund (ETF), which reached a record $9.3 billion. The budget prioritizes K–12 education with a 2% teacher pay raise, expanded literacy and numeracy programs, and increased funding for school safety and technology, while higher education receives targeted workforce development appropriations. The CHOOSE Act of 2024 introduces refundable tax credits to expand school choice options. Despite these investments, challenges such as teacher shortages and rural workforce alignment persist, and Alabama’s per pupil expenditure remains below the national average.
