Abstract

This article focuses on the introduction and evaluation of pig production, management, and health (PPMH) teaching at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) veterinary curriculum to meet European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) accreditation requirements. A two-day blended teaching intervention combining lectures, small group sessions, and a virtual reality (VR) tour of a pig production unit significantly improved students' knowledge and perceived importance of PPMH, with VR ranked as the most effective learning tool. Despite sociocultural sensitivities in Jordan, where pig-related topics were previously excluded due to religious beliefs, the study found increased student interest and support for including PPMH in their education. The findings suggest that integrating active, technology-enhanced learning methods can effectively introduce pig-related veterinary education in contexts with limited prior exposure.
