Abstract
This article examines how decision-makers can avoid panic in highly uncertain, risky, and crisis-like situations by drawing on the case study of Alexander Honnold, the world's leading free solo rock climber. It highlights Honnold's methodical and gradual preparation involving incremental learning goals, physical, mental, and emotional mastery, and deliberate confrontation with panic-inducing triggers through visualization and real-life simulation. The study proposes that such organic and holistic growth builds systemic confidence, enabling calm, composed decision-making under severe uncertainty and risk. These findings offer practical insights for leaders and managers to develop resilience and avoid panic by adopting similar incremental learning, preparedness, and mastery strategies in their professional contexts.
