Abstract
The article discusses two separate gemstone identification cases. The first case involves iolite from Tanzania that contains large hematite platelets, resulting in iridescent flashes of light. This material was mistakenly sold as "iolite sunstone" at a gem show. The second case involves two pale blue gemstones that were initially presented as Paraíba tourmaline but were identified as montebrasite based on their physical and spectroscopic properties. The article provides detailed descriptions and analysis of both cases, highlighting the importance of accurate gemstone identification. [Extracted from the article]
