Abstract

The influence of current on the micro-structure and performance of 2297 Al–Li alloy micro-arc oxide (MAO) coating has been investigated by SEM, XRD, friction and wear, electrochemical workstation. The results show that with the increase of current, the coating thickness increases first and then decreases. The size and the number of holes decrease and then increase. The coating treated at current of 1 A shows the best corrosion resistance due to the least number of holes — smallest in size and highest in thickness. This kind of coating will hinder the corrosion medium to penetrate into the alloy and enhance the corrosion resistance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
