Abstract
This article focuses on the use of weekly intramuscular (IM) injections of estradiol valerate or cypionate as an alternative systemic estradiol menopause management strategy for women with persistent genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) symptoms unrelieved by contemporary non-oral estradiol therapies or facing financial barriers. A chart review of 16 patients showed that IM injections effectively alleviated symptoms without significant side effects or discomfort, and were more cost-effective compared to gels, patches, or vaginal rings. The study highlights that despite common aversion to injections, this "old-fashioned" method can offer improved symptom relief and affordability for select patients.
