Abstract
This article focuses on the development of the ASSeTS classification system by the World Health Organization (WHO) to standardize interventions addressing social isolation and loneliness (SIL), which are linked to adverse health outcomes such as cardiovascular disease and depression. The ASSeTS system categorizes SIL interventions into five groups: Access, Skills, Social engagement, Therapeutic and psychological, and Systemic. Developed through a systematic review of 11 studies and expert consultations, the system demonstrated moderate reliability in empirical testing, with some categories requiring further refinement. The research highlights the potential of ASSeTS to improve comparability, evaluation, and evidence-based policy-making for SIL interventions globally. Future efforts are recommended to validate and integrate ASSeTS across diverse contexts to better address the public health impact of SIL. [Extracted from the article]
