Abstract
The article focuses on a study comparing the effectiveness of a 100 mg diclofenac suppository and a combination of 5 mg oxycodone and acetaminophen for treating renal colic pain following shock wave lithotripsy (SWL). The study found that the oxycodone-acetaminophen combination was as effective as diclofenac in pain relief. Additionally, it discusses factors influencing pain perception during SWL, noting that postmenopausal women reported lower pain levels compared to menstruating women and men. The authors suggest that pain management strategies may need to be adjusted based on patient characteristics, particularly for elderly female patients, to optimize treatment outcomes.
