Abstract

The article reviews clinical trials on the use of traditional and complementary medicine for burn wound treatment, focusing on outcomes such as wound healing, pain control, itching, and scar appearance. Twenty-two clinical trials, primarily from Iran, China, and Thailand, were analyzed, with Aloe vera, Centella asiatica, and Arnebia euchroma being the most commonly studied plants. All treatments were applied topically and demonstrated equal or improved effects compared to standard care, such as silver sulfadiazine cream, with no reported adverse effects. The review highlights the widespread use and potential benefits of traditional herbal treatments in burn care but emphasizes the need for further controlled prospective studies to clarify their efficacy and safety.
