Abstract

This article focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) in enhancing hope and happiness among visually impaired men in Tehran. Using a quasi-experimental design with 40 participants randomly assigned to intervention and control groups, the study found that an eight-week MBSR program significantly increased hope and happiness scores compared to controls. The findings suggest that MBSR can serve as an effective non-pharmacological intervention to improve psychological well-being and help visually impaired individuals better adapt to their conditions. The study highlights the potential of mindfulness practices to reduce psychological complications associated with visual impairment, though its scope was limited to men in a specific urban setting.
