Abstract
This article focuses on a study examining the relationship between emotion regulation, psychological health at work (PHW), and secondary traumatic stress (STS) among child sexual and physical exploitation investigators (CSPEIs) in Quebec, Canada. Using a path analysis model with 73 participants, the research found that difficulties in emotion regulation significantly explained variations in STS, workplace psychological distress, and psychological well-being at work. The study highlights the importance of emotion regulation training in police environments to reduce psychological distress and improve well-being among investigators working in emotionally demanding contexts. These findings contribute to understanding psychological health in specialized law enforcement roles and suggest prevention strategies to enhance both professional quality of life and societal safety.
