Abstract
The article focuses on a critical re-evaluation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and its reinterpretation within the Five-Factor Model (FFM) by Costa and McCrae in 1989. It argues that the trait-based account of MBTI preferences, which has dominated scientific consensus, lacks empirical support for key predictions, particularly the "Unity hypothesis." The paper introduces the Systemic Functional (SF) Model, which is based on Jungian theory and posits that MBTI preferences reflect a systemic configuration of psychological functions rather than isolated traits. This model aims to provide a more nuanced understanding of personality by integrating trait theory, type indicators, and dynamic functional structures, thereby fostering further scientific dialogue on psychological frameworks.
