Abstract

This article focuses on research investigating the role of personality disorders in counterproductive knowledge behavior within the workplace. The study, conducted with 120 full-time employees via Amazon's Mechanical Turk and using the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV to assess personality disorders, found that certain disorders—specifically dependent, narcissistic, sadistic, schizophrenic, and delusional syndromes—are linked to behaviors such as knowledge hiding and sabotage. The research suggests a need to reconsider assumptions that such behaviors are always deliberate and rational, and recommends organizational measures including treatment support, stigma reduction, and task reassignment for affected employees. This study represents one of the first empirical examinations of personality disorders in the context of knowledge management.
