Abstract
The article focuses on the use of animal-assisted stress management to reduce high stress levels among veterinary staff, which negatively impact their mental health and contribute to elevated suicide rates in the profession. A study involving 21 veterinary professionals engaging with therapy dogs over three months demonstrated significant reductions in self-reported stress and blood pressure, indicating the effectiveness of therapy dog visits in improving mental well-being. The research highlights the potential of animal-assisted interventions to support veterinary staff globally, particularly in the growing Asia Pacific veterinary market, by fostering healthier work environments and enhancing the quality of animal care. Prioritizing such mental health strategies is presented as essential for sustaining veterinary practices amid increasing professional demands. [Extracted from the article]
