Abstract

This article focuses on the relationship between Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) symptoms and cognitive functions, specifically attention and memory. In a study of 109 undergraduate students, verbal memory was found to be the only significant predictor of HPD characteristics, with better immediate verbal memory associated with more pronounced HPD symptoms and a higher likelihood of meeting clinical cutoff scores. The findings suggest that HPD may differ cognitively from other Cluster B personality disorders by being linked to enhanced verbal memory. Other measures of attention and memory did not significantly predict HPD symptoms.
