Abstract
This article focuses on a cross-sectional study conducted in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, examining the incidence and clinical patterns of oral mucosal lesions (OMLs) among substance users attending rehabilitation and de-addiction centers. The study involved 195 individuals and found a high prevalence of OMLs, including potentially malignant disorders such as oral submucous fibrosis, leucoplakia, and erythroplakia, particularly among long-term substance users. Alcohol and combined use of alcohol with smokeless tobacco were the most common substances reported. The research highlights the need for regular oral screening in rehabilitation settings to enable early detection and prevention of oral health complications associated with substance abuse.
