Abstract
This article focuses on a clinical trial conducted in Castellon de la Plana, Spain, evaluating the efficacy of clozapine (CLZ), an atypical antipsychotic, in treating treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS) and schizoaffective disorder (SZD). The prospective, three-month, evaluator-blinded study involving 127 participants found that CLZ significantly reduced psychotic and affective symptoms, with better outcomes observed in SZD patients compared to those with TRS. The research highlighted CLZ’s unique receptor profile and its positive impact on symptom scales and substance use in dual diagnosis cases. Funded by the Research Foundation of the Provincial Hospital of Castellon, the study supports CLZ’s clinical utility in complex psychiatric conditions. [Extracted from the article]
