Abstract
The article focuses on the development of the ¡Vamos por Más! (¡VxM!) parenting program aimed at preventing substance use among Chilean adolescents by strengthening family relationships. Guided by the Medical Research Council’s framework for complex interventions and the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research, the program was designed through a community-based participatory research approach involving students, guardians, school staff, and experts. The preliminary program included personalized feedback, in-person workshops, virtual engagement, and family support; after stakeholder feedback, it was refined by removing personalized feedback and adding school partnership and external supervision components. The final ¡VxM! program targets families with children in fifth and sixth grades from schools with low to intermediate socioeconomic vulnerability and is prepared for pilot testing to assess feasibility and preliminary efficacy before a randomized trial.
