Abstract
This article focuses on a study conducted in Nsukka, Nigeria, examining the effectiveness of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) in reducing irrational beliefs about body size and clothing fit, which are psychological concerns affecting self-perception and emotional well-being. Using a randomized controlled trial with 67 participants, the study found that those receiving REBT showed significant decreases in scores on the Body Size Irrational Beliefs Inventory (BSIBS) and Clothing Fit Irrational Belief Scale (CFIBS) compared to a control group. The results, supported by repeated measures ANOVA with large effect sizes, suggest that REBT is an effective intervention for addressing rigid, appearance-related belief systems. The research was financially supported by the University of Johannesburg and conducted by scholars at the University of Nigeria. [Extracted from the article]
