Abstract
This article focuses on a study from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania examining the relationship between paternal mental health and parenting behaviors among racially and ethnically diverse fathers. Using structural equation modeling (SEM) on data from 301 fathers, the research found that paternal mental health, defined by depression and anxiety, negatively affects paternal warmth, while perceived father-child closeness positively influences paternal warmth and mediates this relationship. The study highlights the importance of fostering emotional closeness in father-child relationships and recommends culturally responsive parenting support programs to enhance paternal warmth, particularly in underrepresented communities. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in *Families in Society: The Journal of Contemporary Social Services*. [Extracted from the article]
