Abstract
This article provides a detailed overview of the Woodcock-Johnson V (WJ V), a comprehensive cognitive, achievement, and language assessment battery representing the latest evolution in the Woodcock-Johnson series. The WJ V includes 60 co-normed tests organized into cognitive, achievement, and language domains, featuring a fully digital platform, updated norms, and alignment with contemporary Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) theory. Key innovations include new cognitive tests, a Virtual Test Library (VTL) for specialized assessments (notably in phonological processing and rapid automatized naming), and a four-level interpretive framework emphasizing both norm-referenced and criterion-referenced information such as the Relative Proficiency Index (RPI). Extensive psychometric validation, including multiple analytic methods and clinical studies, supports the WJ V's reliability and validity for diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorders and guiding individualized educational interventions. The article highlights the WJ V's flexibility and technological advancements while noting the importance of practitioner training and infrastructure for effective implementation.
