Abstract

In the article, the authors discuss social welfare issues, particularly elder abuse (EA), which involves caregiver neglect and self-neglect, financial exploitation, as well as physical, psychological and sexual abuse of people at least 60 years old. Other topics include the Adult Protective Services data on the number of EA survivors in the U.S. and the total economic loss of EA.
