Multiple Cerebral Hemorrhages due to Infective Endocarditis Caused by Neisseria macacae: A Case Report.

Abstract
Neisseria macacae, a Gram‐negative bacterium commonly found in monkeys, is typically nonpathogenic in humans, with only a few reported cases of infection. We report the case of a 55‐year‐old woman with a history of cardiac surgery, including mitral valve replacement, who presented with multiple cerebral hemorrhages. Despite the absence of typical signs of infection, blood cultures identified N. macacae, leading to a diagnosis of infective endocarditis. The patient was successfully treated with ceftriaxone alone for 8 weeks, without requiring valve replacement surgery, and made a full recovery. This case highlights the need for further investigation into the pathogenicity and management of N. macacae infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
