Abstract
DNA analyses of ancient and modern Homo sapiens indicate that Neandertals interbred with humans around 47,000 years ago, a more precise timeline than previously thought. Individuals without recent African ancestry can trace 1 to 3 percent of their genetic inheritance to Neandertals, with some genes related to skin color, immunity, and metabolism proving beneficial. The findings suggest a single period of interbreeding between Neandertals and humans, shedding light on our shared genetic history. [Extracted from the article]
