Abstract
This article examines the prevalence, patterns, and perceptions of medical marijuana (MM) use among adult cancer patients attending an outpatient oncology clinic in Zimbabwe. Despite marijuana being illegal for recreational use, 24% of the 50 surveyed patients reported marijuana use, predominantly by males, with two-thirds using it for medicinal purposes such as pain management. Participants generally held neutral views on the benefits and regulation of MM, with many expressing that its use should be supervised by medical professionals. The study highlights the need for evidence-based information dissemination and regulatory frameworks to support safe and informed use of MM and cannabidiol-based products within the Zimbabwean healthcare context.
