Abstract

A recent report from the University of Edinburgh explores the genetic structure underlying dyslexia and various psychiatric traits. The study found that dyslexia is a learning difficulty with neurodevelopmental origins, often co-occurring with other conditions such as attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The research identified five correlated latent genomic factors: compulsive disorders, psychotic disorders, internalizing disorders, neurodevelopmental traits, and attention and learning difficulties. The study also identified potential pleiotropic variants affecting both dyslexia and ADHD. Further research is needed to better understand the attention and learning difficulties factor and its relationship to other traits. [Extracted from the article]
