Abstract
The article focuses on a systematic review and network meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy and safety of benzodiazepines (BZDs) in treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Conducted in Trofa, Portugal, the research included 56 randomized controlled trials with 7,556 adult participants, assessing BZDs against placebo and other interventions. The findings indicated that while all BZDs were more effective than placebo, no significant differences were found among the various BZDs themselves. The study concluded that BZDs are generally effective for GAD treatment and have a favorable safety profile, with diazepam showing notable tolerability compared to placebo.
