Abstract
This article focuses on assessing sensory processing difficulties in children and adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) compared to typically developing controls. The study, conducted in North India with 38 children diagnosed with ADHD and 34 matched controls, used the Child Sensory Profile-2 to evaluate sensory processing, alongside the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale-Parent version (WFIRS-P) to assess behavioral problems and functional impairments. Results indicated that children with ADHD exhibited significantly greater sensory processing difficulties across multiple sensory modalities, particularly sensory seeking, touch, and movement processing, which correlated positively with both internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems and functional impairments in family, school, social, and risky activity domains. The findings suggest that sensory processing issues contribute to the overall functional challenges in children with ADHD, highlighting the importance of their assessment and management in clinical practice.
