Abstract

This article reviews the current research on mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) as treatments for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in school-aged children in the United States, with a focus on Latinx populations. The review identified five relevant U.S.-based studies involving children aged 8 to 12, which suggest that MBIs may improve attention span, reduce ADHD symptoms, and alleviate related stress. However, none of these studies included Spanish-language delivery or specifically addressed Latinx children, highlighting a significant gap in culturally informed research. The article emphasizes the need for more studies on the efficacy of MBIs tailored for diverse and Spanish-speaking Latinx children to improve equitable access to evidence-based ADHD treatments.
