Abstract
A study published in the Journal of Voice suggests that vocal therapy can physically alter the vocal cords of transgender women, providing an alternative to surgery for those seeking a more feminine voice. Vocal therapy involves exercises to release tension in the throat and strengthen vocal cords, resulting in changes to pitch and breathiness. The study found that vocal therapy caused physiological changes in the larynx, regardless of whether the patients had undergone hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The researchers hope that their findings will help transgender individuals access vocal therapy more easily and affordably. [Extracted from the article]
