Abstract

The article focuses on the prevalence and factors influencing the use of traditional healers (THs) among epilepsy patients in Egypt. A study of 64 epilepsy patients found that 34.4% sought THs, with higher rates among females, rural residents, unemployed individuals, and those with lower educational levels. Beliefs attributing epilepsy symptoms to supernatural causes were significantly more common among TH seekers. The study highlights ongoing reliance on traditional healing in contexts with limited access to specialized neurological care.
