Abstract

This article focuses on research from the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University in the People's Republic of China investigating the effects of thalidomide (THD) on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) and anorexia in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The study used metagenomic sequencing and metabolomic profiling of fecal samples to analyze changes in gut microbiota and metabolites associated with THD treatment, finding increased microbial diversity and specific metabolite alterations. These findings suggest a potential gut microbiota-metabolite axis involved in THD’s therapeutic effects, with identified microbial taxa and metabolites proposed as candidate biomarkers or therapeutic targets pending further validation. The research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
