Abstract
Sleep paralysis is a relatively common sleep disorder that is characterized by the inability to move or speak while falling asleep or waking up. This review article provides an overview of sleep paralysis, including its risk factors, methods for measuring it, and associated health outcomes. The review suggests that variables such as body position, sleep hygiene, sex, ethnicity, culture, psychological and sleep disorders, and early life traumas may be related to sleep paralysis.
