Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the relationship between Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and depressive symptoms among older adults in China. The research categorizes ADL into Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) and utilizes data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) to analyze how limitations in these activities correlate with depression risk. Findings indicate that older adults with limited BADL and IADL are more likely to experience depressive symptoms, particularly in rural areas, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to address these issues.
