Abstract

This article focuses on the development and preliminary evaluation of a massive open online course (MOOC) on Zero Discrimination related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Brazil. Developed with support from UNAIDS, the free 90-hour course aimed to combat stigma, misinformation, and discrimination by promoting health literacy and human rights, primarily targeting health professionals and public health workers. Over six months, 665 participants enrolled, with a completion rate of 26.62%, exceeding typical MOOC averages, and self-assessed knowledge improved significantly across ten HIV/AIDS-related dimensions. While initial results are promising for addressing stigma and misinformation, the study notes the need for longer-term monitoring and further analysis of participant engagement and course impact.
