Abstract

This article focuses on the prevalence and associated factors of gambling disorder among nursing students at the University of Palermo, Italy. Using the Canadian Problem Gambling Index (CPGI) in a cross-sectional study of 801 students, the research found that 13.74% exhibited varying degrees of problem gambling, categorized as “Player at risk,” “Moderate gambling problems,” or “Serious game problems.” Significant factors associated with higher gambling risk included younger age, male gender, not living with family, current smoking status, and recent sleep disturbances. The study highlights the need for targeted prevention programs within university and healthcare settings to address gambling addiction among young adults.
