Abstract

This article focuses on a study examining substance use disorder (SUD) treatment completion among pregnant females, particularly adolescents, using data from the Treatment Episode Data Set - Discharges (TEDS-D). The research, conducted by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and funded by a NIDA T32 Fellowship, analyzed 210,412 females aged 12-49 and found that pregnant adolescents had the lowest rates of treatment completion. The study also identified significant variations in treatment completion by U.S. region, race/ethnicity, length of stay, and primary substance used. The findings highlight the need for culturally competent and tailored interventions to improve treatment engagement and outcomes for females of childbearing age. [Extracted from the article]
