Abstract
The article focuses on Christy Turlington Burns's efforts to address maternal mortality following her own postpartum complications in 2003. In 2010, she directed the documentary *No Woman, No Cry* to raise awareness about maternal health issues globally and in the U.S., where Black and Indigenous women face disproportionately high maternal mortality rates. That same year, she founded the nonprofit Every Mother Counts, which has supported nearly 2 million individuals and invested $48 million in community-led maternal health initiatives. To mark its 15th anniversary, the organization launched the Endurance Fund to sustain support for marginalized communities and crisis-affected areas, alongside a 2024 podcast series raising funds for maternal health in nine countries.
