Abstract

The article focuses on evolving treatment options for presbyopia, emphasizing the growing role of presbyopia-correcting eye drops as noninvasive, reversible alternatives to reading glasses and surgery. Several FDA-approved drops—including Vuity (pilocarpine), Qlosi (low-dose pilocarpine), Vizz (aceclidine), and Yuvezzi (carbachol/brimonidine)—work primarily by constricting the pupil to increase depth of focus, offering temporary near vision improvement with varying durations and side effect profiles. While these drops serve as an interim solution especially for early presbyopes reluctant to undergo surgery, surgical options such as implantable collamer lenses (ICL), LASIK, and refractive lens exchange remain important for patients with advanced presbyopia or specific refractive needs. Clinicians highlight the importance of patient selection, counseling, and managing expectations, noting that presbyopia treatments must address modern visual demands across near, intermediate, and distance ranges.
