Abstract

The article focuses on a study investigating the use of narcotic substances among minors in Albania, highlighting a growing public health concern with significant physical and mental health implications. Conducted at the Clinical Toxicology Service of the University Hospital Centre "Mother Teresa" in Tirana, the research analyzed data from 1,032 patients treated for psychoactive substance intoxication between January 2020 and December 2024, revealing that 2.6% of these cases involved minors. The findings indicated that cannabis was the most commonly used substance among minors, with a notable difference in usage patterns compared to adults. The study emphasizes the urgent need for enhanced national surveillance and integrated mental health services to address this issue effectively. [Extracted from the article]
