Abstract
The article focuses on workplace bullying, defining it as repeated mistreatment that can include verbal abuse and intimidation, and highlights its prevalence and impact on employees and employers. A 2024 survey by the Workplace Bullying Institute found that 32% of Americans have experienced workplace bullying, with significant implications for employee morale and legal liability for employers. Although there is no federal law specifically prohibiting workplace bullying, various state laws and proposed legislation, such as the Healthy Workplace Bill and the Workplace Bullying Accountability Act, aim to address this issue. The article also outlines best practices for employers to prevent bullying and discusses the legal frameworks that may apply, including discrimination and emotional distress claims.
