Abstract
This study examines the global association between salivary gland cancer (SGC) incidence and mortality with tobacco use (smoked and chewed) and the Human Development Index (HDI) across 172 countries in 2020. Findings indicate that countries with very high HDI have higher SGC incidence, while mortality is greater in countries with moderate HDI. Mortality from SGC is positively correlated with chewing tobacco use overall and in women, whereas smoking tobacco shows a negative correlation with both incidence in men and mortality overall and in women. Additionally, SGC mortality negatively correlates with HDI and its components, suggesting higher death rates in less developed countries. The study highlights the need for improved healthcare access to reduce disparities in SGC outcomes globally.
