Abstract

This article examines the impact of comprehensive professional case management on reducing negative emotions and enhancing self-efficacy in breast cancer patients undergoing postoperative radiotherapy. In a randomized study of 102 patients at a hospital in Guangzhou, China, those receiving case management alongside routine nursing care showed significantly greater reductions in anxiety and depression, measured by the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), compared to those receiving routine care alone. Additionally, the intervention group demonstrated marked improvements in self-efficacy, assessed by the Self-Efficacy Scale across positive attitude, self-relaxation, and self-decision-making dimensions. The case management approach involved multidisciplinary coordination, personalized health education, psychological support, and specialized nursing for intravenous therapy, addressing both physical and psychological needs throughout treatment and recovery. The study concludes that comprehensive case management effectively supports breast cancer radiotherapy patients by improving psychological well-being and self-management capabilities, though it notes limitations related to single-site implementation and calls for further research on cost-effectiveness and broader applicability.
