Abstract

The article discusses customer data privacy stewardship and its impact on business performance and trust. Research by Jordan W. Moffett, Natalie Chisam, Kelly D. Martin, and Robert W. Palmatier shows that strong privacy practices increase trust, purchase intent, and shareholder value by reducing privacy concerns and improving perceived goodwill. Keith Enright, a partner at Gibson Dunn and former Google Chief Privacy Officer, explains that privacy should be embedded in daily operations through clear, consistent practices that build trust and reduce compliance risk. INSET: "Trust Is Built Through Repetition, Not a Single Message".
