Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Chongqing Medical University in China compared the efficacy and safety of Shuganjieyu capsule and St. John's wort for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) with somatic complaints. The study involved 198 MDD patients who were randomly assigned to either the Shuganjieyu capsule group or the St. John's wort group. The results showed that both groups experienced significant reductions in depression symptoms, with the Shuganjieyu capsule group showing greater improvements in male patients. The study suggests that the Shuganjieyu capsule could be a viable alternative treatment for MDD patients with somatic complaints, particularly in male patients. [Extracted from the article]
