Abstract

This article focuses on Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a naturally produced, fat-soluble compound essential for cellular energy production and antioxidant protection. While healthy individuals typically do not require supplementation, CoQ10 levels decline with age and certain health conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders, which may warrant its use under medical guidance. Evidence supports CoQ10 supplementation particularly for congestive heart failure, statin-related muscle aches, and lowering blood pressure, with additional potential benefits for migraines, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue. CoQ10 supplements are generally safe but can interact with medications like blood pressure drugs, anticoagulants, and cancer treatments, so consultation with a healthcare provider is recommended before use.
