Abstract
This study investigates the association between transient global amnesia (TGA), a form of short-term amnesia, and dietary intake of vitamin B12 among adults in Sabzevar, Iran. Using a cross-sectional design with 258 TGA patients and 520 controls, the researchers found a statistically significant inverse relationship between vitamin B12 intake and the risk of TGA, which remained after adjusting for demographic, lifestyle, and health-related confounders. Although the effect size was small, the findings suggest that vitamin B12 deficiency may increase the risk of TGA. The study highlights the need for further research to confirm these results and to elucidate the biological mechanisms underlying the potential protective role of vitamin B12 in TGA.
