Abstract

A study conducted by the Department of Design in Karnataka, India, explored the effects of digital versus print comics on reading efficiency and comprehension. The study involved 15 high school students and used a think-aloud protocol experiment to map their reading experience. The results showed that off-screen reading had a significant advantage over on-screen reading in terms of reading time. Additionally, readers took longer to switch between areas of interest on a computer screen compared to print, and encountered more word repetition on screen. The study highlights the importance of considering verbal psychological responses alongside eye-tracking in future research. [Extracted from the article]
